Dye Penetant Inspection - Strippable developed film (PS-91) - A new NDT product Launch at Vadodara, Gujarat, India

Dye Penetant Inspection - Strippable developed film (PS-91) - A new NDT product Launch at Vadodara, Gujarat, India

P-Met has developed a new product complimenting PMC Liquid Penetrant products; viz. PMC Flawcheck and PMC Lumincheck. The product name and its identity code are Strippable developed film (PS-91). This product was displayed in Asia Pacific Conference on Non destructive Testing held in Mumbai during 18-22 Nov. 2013.

Strippable developed film PMC PS-91

It is white colour liquid used to obtain photo film as a permanent record of defects indications.

How to use?

1. Use PMC Flawcheck liquid Dye Penetrant products or PMC Lumincheck products to detect and identify defects in the any engineering metallic parts.

2. Wait for the development of defecting the case if any.

3. If there are no defects, use of this PMC PS-91 is not required.

4. However, if defect indications are established use of PMC PS-91 (if permanent record is required) will be necessary.

S. Spray from aerosol can or spread PMC PS-91 on the engineering part where defect indications are observed.

6. Wait for liquid to be dried use of gentle air flow from the fan or use of mild hot air (temperature not more than 50deg C) will assist faster drying.

7. After film is dried remove the film gently from the edge separating it from the engineering part.

8. Indication of defects in either red colour or in yellowish green will be observed depending on use of PMC Flawcheck products are used or PMC Lumincheck products are used.

9. The strippable film can be permanently preserved by placing it in a proper record book or in plastic cover.

Precautions:

1. Shake well before use

2. Do not shake the material while application

3. Do not take internally. For industrial use only

4. Keep the container in cool storage place.

S. Do not store in sun or in hot atmosphere

6. Always make sure that nosel of aerosol can is cleaned after each use.

7. While removing the film ensure gentle process of removing of stripping the film

This product is compatible to P-Met consumable products for Dye penetrant inspection and not with any other products.

Ultrasonic Testing procedure by Trinity NDT, Bangalore, India-Twin Crystal calibration

Ultrasonic Testing procedure by Trinity NDT, Bangalore, India-Twin Crystal calibration

Calibration procedure for 25mm steel Using Dual Crystal Transducer

1. Connect probe leads to Ultrasonictesting equipment using two cables, select twin crystal Mode.
2. On the Ultrasonic testingequipment, select the test range to 10mm position and Ultrasonic test velocity inside the steel is 5920m/s to be adjusted on the equipment
3. Using Gain Control select the gain at approximately 40 dB
4. Switch Suppression (Reject) Control to off.
5. Position leading edge of Initial pulse at ‘0’ on the Ultrasonic testing machine screen grid line.
6. Apply couplant to the 'V1' block and place probe on the block. There should be no change in display since 25mm thickness of block will be outside range of the base at present.
7. Adjust the echoes such that a 2nd signal should appear to the right side of the ultrasonic equipment screen. This is 1st Back wall echo from IIW V1 block 25mm thickness
8. Using delay control adjust the initial pulse to ‘0’ on the Ultrasonic equipment screen
9. Adjust the Range and Delay controls to get the Initial pulse and BWE from 25mm thickness of the block on screen
10. Adjust delay control to move the 1st BWE to center of the screen. Second Back wall echo now will be appearing towards the right side of the Ultrasonic test equipment display.
11. Using delay control adjusts the 1st BWE to ‘0’ and using range control adjusts the 2ndBWE to the extreme right side of the screen (end of the screen). Repeat the adjustments if needed to adjust the 1st BWE to ‘0’ and 2ndBWE to the extreme right side of the screen.

12. Now using delay control bring the 1st BWE to the extreme right side of the screen. Now the distance between Initial Pulse and 1st BWE is 25mm and the total range calibrated using twin crystal is 0-25mm of steel. (Note: There may not be an Initial pulse after this calibration on the Ultrasonic equipment screen)
